These methodologies are designed to shape the material according to a specific design, enabling the creation of seals for various industrial applications.

Key steps in gasket production

• Design and material selection: The process begins with designing the gasket shape and selecting a suitable material, such as EPDM, nitrile, silicone, or graphite, depending on the specific application requirements, including factors like chemical resistance and temperature tolerance.

• Material preparation: The raw materials, such as rubber, undergo preparation through mixing and rolling to attain the desired consistency and elasticity.

• Forming the gasket: Various methods are utilised to form the gasket shape based on the type and volume of the gasket required

  Cutting: Techniques, including rotary die cutting, flatbed die cutting, digital knife cutting, or water jetting, are employed to cut gaskets from sheets of material. Punching remains a traditional approach wherein a steel strip is pressed through the material to achieve the desired shape.

  Moulding: Compression moulding or injection moulding processes utilise moulds to form the gasket. For spiral wound gaskets, a metallic strip is wound together with a filler material onto a mandrel.
